Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karic was on an official two-day visit to Vienna at the invitation of her colleague Michael Ludwig, the mayor of the Austrian capital.

Together with Mayor Karic, the City Council Chairman Jasmin Ademovic, Deputy Mayor Haris Basic, and City Councilors Nihad Uk and Danijela Sahat were also on an official visit to Vienna.

This was the first meeting of the two mayors who pointed out the very successful cooperation so far, and discussed the possibilities of even stronger development of relations and expansion of the area of joint action of the friendly cities of Sarajevo and Vienna.

“I am very pleased to accept the invitation to continue working together in order to intensify partnership and cooperation. The city of Vienna, declared the most pleasant city to live in the world, is ready to share its experiences and good practices, especially through projects of urban development, ecology, tourism, as well as in the area of application of smart technologies, ” emphasized Karic.

The Mayor stressed that we want Sarajevo to be a place for a pleasant life, stay, and profitable business, and to differ in the spirit that other cities do not have.

She reminded that our ties with Austria and Vienna are traditional and very strong, deeply woven into the history of our countries and cities.

“The relatively small geographical distance, as well as the reputation and importance of Vienna in the perception of the citizens of Sarajevo, are benefits that should be used in the future with mutual interest and satisfaction,” Karic noted.

She invited Mayor Ludwig to visit Sarajevo, including the renovated architectural gem – Bistrik Station, which we will soon open and return to the citizens of Sarajevo as a significant cultural institution and tourist attraction.
