Continuing a long-standing Festival tradition, the honour of hosting the Sarajevo Film Festival Opening Ceremony goes to one of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s rising acting stars. This year, that honour belongs to Kerim Čutuna.
“It’s an indescribable feeling to realize that the things you once only dreamed about are actually happening. The Sarajevo Film Festival is the most important cultural event in the country, and hosting the Opening Ceremony, in the city that shaped me, in front of the people who love me, is one of the greatest professional recognitions I could receive. As every year, I’ll do my best to spend as much time as possible watching films in the open air with as many people as possible… but that’s beside the point,” said Čutuna.
Kerim Čutuna was born in Sarajevo, where he graduated with a degree in acting from the Academy of Performing Arts. He has appeared in a series of film and television productions, including A Life’s Worth, The White Fortress, Not So Friendly Neighborhood Affair, Frust, Komar, and The Witness, collaborating on both regional and international film and television projects.
In addition to his screen work, he is active in theater and is the writer and performer of the autobiographical monodrama Beside the Point(„Nebitno“), which he performs on tour across the region and Europe.
Alongside acting, he creates digital content, developing a contemporary artistic expression and building further regional recognition.
The 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival will be held from the 14th to the 21st of August 2026.
