The Romanian army sent an additional contingent of 130 soldiers to participate in the NATO KFOR mission in Kosovo, the North Atlantic Alliance announced.
“More than 130 additional troops from Romania arrived in Kosovo on Friday to further strengthen NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo (KFOR), in addition to the two hundred British troops deployed earlier this month. The deployment of these additional troops comes after a violent attack on Kosovo police on September 24 and increasing tensions in the region,” NATO said.
The alliance pointed out that the peacekeeping operation in Kosovo is conducted by NATO according to Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council.
There are more than 4,500 soldiers from 27 countries in KFOR.
