The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, attended the ceremonial academy tonight on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the 101st Motorized Brigade of the First Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Speaking to the media before the event, Komšić pointed out that it is important to convey the feeling of loyalty to Bosnia and Herzegovina to the future generation, regardless of how it looked thirty years after the war.

“The homeland is the homeland, whatever it is, it is ours. You should continue to pass on that love and that attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina to future generations. Our parents, and those before us, instilled the same love deep into our hearts. That’s why everything looked like that from 1992 to the end of 1995, we managed to defend the country, although at certain moments it seemed impossible, but we succeeded,” stressed Komšić, who was a member of the RBiH Army and the holder of the highest war award “Golden Lily”.

Before the ceremonial part of the program, flowers were laid at the memorial in front of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, and tribute was paid to the martyrs and fallen soldiers.

The 101st Motorized Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was formed in 1993, and its area of responsibility extended to the areas of the municipalities of Novo Sarajevo and Novi Grad.

In the final phase of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, this brigade was often engaged in battlefields that were not in the area of responsibility of the First Corps of the Army of the RBiH.

In its ranks, 8,157 soldiers fought for a free and independent Bosnia and Herzegovina, while 26 of them were awarded the highest war award, the “Golden Lily”.
