Komšić Cable Car bhifo.frAnnual conference of the City of Sarajevo for media was held yesterday in Sarajevo. Topics at the conference were this year’s projects, as well as ideas which the City is to implement in 2016.

One of the projects the City of Sarajevo intends to implement in 2016 is the construction of Trebević cable car.

“We have spent entire year resolving legal and property issues, i.e. the legal status of Trebević cable car. As a reminder, it was given for use to the Cantonal Public Utility Company Gras, and the owner is City of Sarajevo. We had a very good understanding with the Government of Sarajevo Canton so far, we have had their support since the first talks, we have finally managed to transfer right for construction of Trebević cable car from Gras to the City and we can start working today already,” Komšić said.

Regarding the cable car, the City has always been in the background, but now it definitely has rights for construction, i.e. the revitalization of one of the largest symbols of Sarajevo.

“Hopefully, we will start the construction next year. However, I am not sure if I can say that the construction will end in 2016 as well. We have already made some preparatory work together with the Stari Grad Municipality, since the lot is on their territory. They are willing to put themselves on our disposal and I believe we will have no further administrative issues,” Komšić explained.

In addition to seven million BAM donation and cabins waiting to be mounted, the City intends to provide the remaining five million BAM of funds from the budget.

“We have a duty towards the citizens of Sarajevo to build it – the cable car will be our priority in the coming period. Imagine how it would be to get to Trebević, where the sun shines while Sarajevo is suffocating in fog, in just ten minutes”. Komšić concluded.

Among other things, Komšić highlighted the continuation of construction of cycling trail, as well as the continuation of placement of the signalization for blind and visually impaired citizens of Sarajevo.
