The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, today received the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Maria Clara Duclos Carisio, on an inaugural visit.

The meeting discussed bilateral relations between BiH and Brazil, the current situation in our country, with an emphasis on the process of European integration and the improvement of economic cooperation.

Minister Konaković informed Ambassador Carisio about BiH’s progress on its way to the EU.

He expressed satisfaction after the European Commission presented a report on the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina and recommended the opening of accession negotiations with BiH.

The minister emphasized that this is a big step forward for our country on the European path, and that in this positive atmosphere we expect the decision of the European Council to open negotiations with our country.

He stated that progress in the process of European integration will open opportunities for investments and economic development of the country.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the improvement of relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Brazil, and support for candidacies in international bodies and organizations.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Konaković wished the newly appointed ambassador of Brazil a successful diplomatic mission, announced the Public Relations Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
