Members of the Coordination Body for Trgovska Gora were informed at the meeting the day before yesterday that the Legal Team has adopted the Draft Strategy for Legal Protection of Interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) regarding the Disposal of Radioactive Waste and Spent Nuclear Fuel on Trgovska Gora, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH announced.
In this regard, the participants of the meeting exchanged views on further implementation of the necessary activities on the basis of international conventions to which BiH is a signatory, with a focus on the Aarhus and Espoo conventions.
”The draft strategy will be submitted to the relevant entity ministries for opinion, after which we will send this document, together with the reports of the Legal and Expert Team, to the BiH Council of Ministers for adoption by the end of the month,”said BiH Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Minister Stasa Kosarac.
It was also pointed out at the meeting that BiH is not lagging behind Croatia in terms of activities aimed at protecting its interests, in accordance with the provisions of the said conventions.
”It is important to us that we are not at a standstill and that we adequately monitor and react to the activities carried out by Croatia. I am grateful for the involvement of competent institutions and bodies at all levels of government in BiH in resolving this issue. Our priority is to protect the health of our citizens and preserve the environment. We will not give up on that,” said Minister Kosarac.
He supported the plan of the members of the Expert and Legal Team to attend the upcoming meeting of the Joint Convention on the Safe Disposal of Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste, which will be held in Vienna. It was pointed out that on that occasion, domestic experts will point out the insufficiently answered questions of Croatia about the potential construction of a landfill on Trgovska Gora.
