The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, together with the host, the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, co-chaired the 2nd high-level political forum between the EU and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which took place today in Brussels, in order to continue monitoring the implementation of the necessary reforms that are ahead Bosnia and Herzegovina was placed by the European Commission.

During the meeting, all participants informed Commissioner about the achieved results and evident steps regarding their competences in the period after the 1st high-level political forum between BiH and the EU in Sarajevo. The new EU Growth Plan for the Western Balkans region was also discussed.

In her statement to the media, Chairwoman Krišto said that the sheer number of the delegation of officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina, which arrived in Brussels with the agreed text of the conclusions, speaks of the absolute determination and dedication when it comes to our country’s EU path. She said that significant progress has been made in the past month, in the period since the publication of the EC Report on BiH, and that tomorrow we will officially submit the Reform Plan document to the European Commission, which was prepared in record time by the Ad Hoc Working Group of the BiH Council of Ministers.

“I believe that we have really matured and that we can ensure all the necessary prerequisites for strengthening the dialogue between the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as political leaders in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will lead us to fulfill all the conditions that lie ahead of us. “We expect that Bosnia and Herzegovina will receive a final date for the opening of negotiations with the EU by the end of this year,” said President Krišto.

She emphasized that only through honest dialogue and consensus in decision-making through the established coordination mechanism, and respect for the constitutional structure and competence of institutions at all levels of government can we ensure lasting stability, prosperity, implementation of reforms and final integration into the European family.

At the end of her address, Chairperson Krišto thanked Commissioner Varhelyi for his continued support, as well as his efforts and commitment to the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The next, third high-level political forum is planned for May next year.
