Judoist Larisa Cerić was named the athlete of the year in B&H in the 69th selection of the B&H Sports Association.
Multiple champion of B&H in the category over 78 kg, she won medals at nearly all competitions in which she participated. She took the bronze medal at the Mediterranean games in Mersin and at the Grand Prix in Rijeka, and the gold at the European Cups in Sarajevo and Belgrade. She ended the year by winning the gold medal at the European University Championship in Portugal.
At last night’s ceremony at the National Theatre Sarajevo, Cerić also received a recognition for the most successful athlete in 2013, while most successful male athlete of was Hamza Alić, winner of the silver medal in shot put at the European Indoor Championships in Gothenburg and the bronze at the Mediterranean games in Mersin.
Trainer of the year is Branislav Crnogorac, the coach of the judo team of B&H. The award “Mirza Delibašić” was awarded to table tennis player Emina Hadžiahmetović.
The most successful national team in the selection of sports games was the B&H football team. The most successful state selection is the B&H karate team, the most successful male team was OKK Spars, and the female team was STK Spin 2012.
The B&H Sports Association gave the lifetime achievement award to Ivica Osim. The Ambassador of B&H sport is tennis player Damir Džumhur. The award for fair play was given to the B&H handball team, while the B&H sitting handball team won the award for the top score in sports for people with disabilities.
