The Italian coast guard said the body of the last missing person aboard a yacht that sank off the coast of Sicily was found in the wreckage.

The woman’s body was found today. She has not been identified, but Hannah Lynch, the 18-year-old daughter of British tech magnate Mike Lynch, is reported missing. The Lynch family were aboard the Bayesian, a 56-metre British-flagged yacht, when it sank early Monday morning.

Mike Lynch’s body was found yesterday. His wife Angela Bakares was among the 15 survivors.

The luxury yacht Bayesian sank early Monday morning after a storm hit the area off the coast of Portisella near Palermo. There were 22 people on board at the time of the accident, 12 passengers and ten crew members. The Coast Guard rescued 15 people, while seven lost their lives.

The bodies of the five other passengers were located and recovered over the past few days, with the final body being found earlier today by divers near the wreckage site. The deceased have been identified as a mix of Italian nationals and foreign tourists who were on board for a private cruise around the scenic Mediterranean coastline.

The cause of the yacht’s sinking is still under investigation, with initial reports suggesting that a combination of severe weather conditions and potential technical failures may have contributed to the disaster. Authorities have launched a full inquiry to determine the exact sequence of events and to assess if any safety violations were involved.

Family members of the victims have expressed their grief and thanked the search teams for their efforts. A memorial service is expected to be held in the coming days to honor the lives lost in the tragedy.

The incident has raised concerns about maritime safety in the region, particularly as the summer tourist season draws to a close. Local officials have called for stricter safety regulations and better monitoring of sea conditions to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

This heartbreaking event has cast a shadow over the idyllic waters of Sicily, reminding all of the unpredictable dangers that can arise even in seemingly calm and beautiful surroundings.
