The genetically modified food, the implementation of the action plan for the export of milk and dairy products to the EU, the continuation of the activities on the adoption of the Law on Agriculture, the Food Law and the Veterinary Law, as well as the initiatives for the introduction of subsidized diesel, were on the agenda of the yesterday’s meeting of the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of B&H Mirko Sarovic, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska (RS) Stevo Mirjanic, and the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry of the Federation of B&H (FB&H) Semsudin Dedic.

The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Food Safety Agency of B&H Sejad Mackic, the Director of the State Veterinary Office of B&H Ljubomir Kalaba and the Director of the Plant Health Protection Administration of B&H Radenko Radovic.

After the meeting, Sarovic said that, together with Mirjanic and Dedic, he launched an initiative for the introduction of subsidized diesel throughout B&H which is, as the ministers assessed,  in the interest of the agricultural sector.

As Sarovic said, at the meeting it was also discussed about the fulfillment of the conditions for the export of meat, poultry and eggs to the countries of the EU, and in this regard the further activities on the adoption of the European standards in the future have been supported.

Mirjanic said that the RS already has the blue diesel introduced for several years now, and he rated the initiative for the introduction of the subsidized diesel throughout B&H as positive.

With regard to the export of milk, dairy and other animal products, Mirjanic said, the finalizing of the Law on Agriculture, the Food Law and the Veterinary Law was finalized. In this respect, the activation of expert working groups from both entities, as well as from the Brcko District and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of B&H, that will work on finalizing the abovementioned laws was announced for the next week.

Another, more complicated issue regarding the export of milk, dairy and other animal products that was discussed is the marking of the animals and facilities. Mirjanic believes that the marking should be conducted faster and better, and pointed out that it is necessary to have all the animals in the system marked in order to have a database, since the way of realization of the model of incentives for the next year will depend on that.

The main motto, he emphasized, is applying the standards that are applied in the EU and that comply with the conditions and specifics in B&H.

With regard to the Law on Agriculture, the Food Law and the Veterinary Law, Dedic said that it was agreed that these laws are to be in accordance with the legislation in the EU and that, in this regard, the task was given to the relevant agencies to create the drafts of all three laws.
