Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow had information that mercenaries from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania and Kosovo had been sent to Ukraine.
In an interview with RT, Lavrov said today that Moscow is re-examining information that suggests that “mercenaries are being recruited for deployment in Donbas from the Republic of Kosovo, as well as from Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
Lavrov commented on the situation in the Western Balkans, saying the region was “far from prosperous”.
“Kosovo and some other parts of the Western Balkans are becoming a breeding ground for crime. There are terrorists, drug dealers. It is a place for recruiting mercenaries involved in conflicts that are gradually erupting, including by the United States. “Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina are being sent to Donbas, among other things, to throw Russia off balance. We are now checking that information again,” the foreign minister said.
Recall, Donbass is a region in eastern Ukraine where clashes between the Ukrainian army and pro-Russian separatists continue.
