Lavrov: Western countries have chosen a risky path in BiH

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that during talks with French foreign and defense ministers, BiH and Kosovo were discussed, and that the West was trying to impose illegitimate solutions.

Lavrov said that lately, the West has been trying to impose illegitimate solutions, especially when it comes to the appointment of the High Representative, which happened a few months ago.

According to him, the High Representative was appointed in gross violation of the procedures set out in the Dayton Agreement, which require the consent of all three constituent peoples, as well as in gross violation of the procedure necessary to approve the decision within the UN Security Council.

“We drew the attention of our French colleagues that this is a very risky path that Western countries have chosen, since it poses a threat to the coexistence of Serbs, Croats and Bosniaks within one state,” Lavrov emphasized.

Lavrov said that he and his colleague Sergei Shoigu also drew the attention of French ministers to the issue of Kosovo, where the EU, which plays the role of mediator in the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, is not able to implement decisions made with its support, and above all it is about the community of Serbian municipalities.

“It is a matter of principle that enables Serbs in the region to preserve their national identity. All praise for the fact that the EU managed to secure such an agreement at all, however, the fact that Brussels cannot force Pristina to implement that agreement speaks for itself. “, he pointed out.
