The results have also shown that the leading parties in BiH are still the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD).

Center for Election Studies (CIS) yesterday presented the results of research on the habits of voters in BiH. This research has been ordered by the CIS and refers to September, and CIS stated that they compared the results with the same research for May.

Political analyst Adnan Huskić said that in both research the citizens of BiH stated that they voted in the last elections held in October 2014.

“Data about 75 and 73 percent can be explained with unregulated voting registers and high number of voters from abroad who mostly do not vote. Regarding the abstainers, they stated that the main reason why they do not vote in the elections is because they do not know who to vote for and because they think everyone’s the same,” Huskić said.

One quarter of abstainers believes that their vote cannot change anything, which is paradoxical considering the fact that this is theoretically around 200.000 people.

“Half of the citizens of BiH stated that they would certainly vote in the elections, given that the number increased from 41.1 percent in May to 50.3 percent in September, which is an expected trend,” Huskić stated.

Regarding the introduction of mandatory voting, the number of citizens who think that mandatory voting should be introduced increased from 48 percent in May to 58 percent in September.

“Only 11 percent of citizens have full trust in the election process, while 85 percent of surveyed persons do not have enough trust or do not trust the process at all. Also, three quarters of surveyed people believe that it is important that candidates and political parties deal with relevant political topics,” Huskić emphasized.
