letsdoitRepresentatives of NGOs, of authority, international institutions, students, and all citizens will go and to locations across BiH and clean them. The aim of the action, apart from cleaning the garbage, to register all illegal landfills in BiH, and to clean at least 20 000 tons of garbage and raise the awareness and educate people about the importance of protecting the environment, reports klix.ba

Chief for Energy and Environment of UNDP Sanjin Avdić said that employees of UNDP will participate in the action, and added that volunteerism is one of the basic principles of UN organisations, and added that this will been excellent way to Mark the World Environment Day.

Action ‘Let’s Do It’ is the largest volunteer action in the history of BiH and it is dedicated primarily to cleaning illegal landfills and green spaces. The project is organised by association ‘Ruke’ from Sarajevo and ‘Mozaik Prijateljstva’ from Banja Luka.

The action will start at 10 a.m. and will last until 4 p.m. and even employees of the EU Delegation to BiH will join, together with employees of entity ministries of environment.

Spokesperson of the EU Delegation Andy McGuffie said ‘The protection of the environment is very important to the EU. These events give the youth possibility to be active participants and not just observers, and this is also a great chance for all citizens to be responsible and to work for the welfare of the country and society.’

The sponsor of the action is HT Eronet, who’ll also participate in the action.
