The Head of the Department for Diplomatic Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mirsad Bešić, received  today the copies of the letters of credence from the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to BiH, Li Fan.

Upon her arrival in Sarajevo, on December 31, 2024, at the Sarajevo International Airport, Ambassador Li Fan delivered a speech in which she expressed her joy and honor for taking on her new position.

“I am extremely honored that President Xi Jinping has appointed me as the eighth Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Bosnia and Herzegovina. I would like to take this opportunity to express my warmest greetings and sincere gratitude to all friends who have always supported the development of Sino-Bosnian relations,” said the Ambassador.

Referring to the words of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić, she described Bosnia as a “wonderful and interesting country.” She emphasized her delight in the natural beauties and announced her dedicated work to improve relations between the two countries during her mandate.

The Ambassador emphasized that 2025 will be a special year as it marks 30 years of diplomatic relations between China and BiH. She expressed her intention to contribute to the further strengthening of friendly ties, economic cooperation and exchanges between the two countries through cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and other joint platforms.

At the end of her speech, the Ambassador wished the citizens of BiH prosperity and happiness in the new year, while sending New Year greetings to her Chinese compatriots, promising that the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China will always be at their disposal.
