In a room full of interested family members and friends, attendees of the “Little School of Museology” presented their first exhibition in the National Museum of BiH yesterday. Children at the age of 7 to 12 presented the parts of their cultural heritage that they have been learning about for the past four days.
Each of the little curators presented some traditional object from the territory of BiH. Therefore, visitors could learn something about yoke, cradle, pannier and other objects. One part of the exhibition was the description of the object, and the other part were the invented stories about the objects.
Curator in the Department for Ethnology of the National Museum of BiH Samir Avdić said that the second part of the exhibition was the kids’ idea. He says they showed great interest and innovativeness and that they decided to make a parallel exhibition on their own.
“That is just one of the examples where they brought something new to this school, something that I was not planning to do,” said Avdić, adding that children surpassed his expectations.
Biggest applause during the presentation of objects went to one of the youngest attendees, the seven-year-old Ahmet Hafizagić, who was talking about the pannier. He said he did not know anything about this object before, and now he presented it to others as well. He said he had an amazing time in the past several days and that he learned a lot.
Led by good experiences from the first “Little School of Museology”, employees of the National Museum of BiH are already planning the next one for January, during the school break.
