COM EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, visited Gračanica and Gradačac, where he met with the Mayor of Gračanica, Mr. Sadmir Džebo, and the Mayor of Gradačac, Mr. Hajrudin Mehanović, as part of EUFOR’s continued engagement with communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on the current security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to reaffirm the importance of maintaining peace and stability for the benefit of all citizens. Major General Fronda underlined EUFOR’s commitment to maintaining close dialogue with local authorities, recognising their valuable perspectives on developments within their communities.

Discussions also focused on a number of local initiatives, with particular emphasis on projects supporting young people. Major General Fronda welcomed the commitment shown by both municipalities to investing in opportunities for the next generation, highlighting that the future prosperity and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina depends upon its youth.

“Young people are the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and investing in their education, development and opportunities is an investment in the country’s long-term stability and success,” said Major General Fronda.

The visits formed part of EUFOR’s ongoing programme of engagement with local leaders, reinforcing cooperation and mutual understanding while demonstrating the mission’s continued commitment to supporting a safe and secure environment throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
