A plane of the Polish airline “LOT” landed at Mostar Airport today, carrying 161 passengers on a charter flight, and for the first time an air bridge was built between Mostar and Poland.

Tourists from Poland were welcomed by majorettes and members of the cultural and artistic society who offered travelers traditional Herzegovinian products as refreshment. Also, the first guests were welcomed by representatives of the Mostar City Administration led by Mayor Mario Kordic, as well as the management of the Mostar airport.

We are finally seeing the expected ‘hat’ at Mostar Airport and that makes me happy. We have been communicating about the problems of Mostar Airport for a year now, and finally the work of a year is starting to be seen in the field, tourists are coming and here we see an example of the biggest “I hope this is the beginning of a nice story because Mostar Airport can be the potential of the whole of Herzegovina,” said Mostar Mayor Kordic.

The mayor pointed out that a lot has been done for the recovery of Mostar Airport.

“Mostar Airport is provided with two million marks a year for four years. We sat down with the Herzegovina Neretva Canton government, resolved some disputes, waived interest to push the airport as much as possible, etc. The airport cannot survive alone, we know how much it is potential and the City Administration has decided to give maximum energy and money to start everything together in order to have a functional port for tourism development, which is an important strategic branch of development at this time “, concluded Kordic.

Today, 161 passengers landed at Mostar Airport, while 67 passengers flew from it.

“We solemnly welcomed the flight of the Polish company” LOT “, which is landing in Mostar for the first time in history. We have established an air bridge between Poland and BiH, ie between Katowice and Mostar, which will fly once a week from today until September 30 this year. All this was done in cooperation with the tour operator “Rego Bis” from Poland “, said the director of Mostar Airport Ivan Ljubic.

He added that he was satisfied with the implementation of the contract signed at the beginning of February this year in Katowice, Poland.

“With all the troubles that awaited us along the way, from restricting the movement of passengers through the war in Ukraine to the current inflation, we realized the planned. With great enthusiasm of all government officials, employees of Mostar Airport, we succeeded and continue to recover and develop business in “We are creating an environment for a new positive story,” said the director of Mostar Airport.

He then added that arrivals from Italy, Beirut, Lebanon, Ireland and Jordan were announced during the summer.

“We are working to return the old markets, especially those related to religious tourism, and we are opening new flights and new markets, and we are working on bringing in low-cost carriers,” said Ljubic.

“Croatia will soon go to ‘Schengen’ and our tourists will not be able to come via Split and Dubrovnik, so Mostar will be a desirable airport. We are implementing our strategy to the end,” he added.

On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bohdan Korzeniowski addressed the hope that this will be the beginning of the establishment of a regular line between Mostar and Poland.

“I believe that in two or three years there will be a line between Mostar and a city in Poland, if it is not Warsaw. Three weeks ago we opened a regular line between Sarajevo and Warsaw, we connected Bosnia with Poland, and now it is Herzegovina’s turn. The Poles are well acquainted with Herzegovina, they are happy to come to Mostar and Medjugorje, and the proximity of the Adriatic Sea also plays a big role, “Korzeniowski said.
