Major General Reinhard Trischak met with BiH’s Minister of Defense

On 7 January 2020, COMEUFOR met with the newly appointed Minister of Defense for BiH for an inaugural office call, thereby continuing the good cooperation between EUFOR and the Armed Forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

BiH Minister of Defense, Sifet Podžić, welcomed COMEUFOR, Major General Reinhard Trischak, during a courtesy call at the BiH Ministry of Defence, following Minister Podžić’s recent appointment as part of the new convocation of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

He thanked General Trischak for EUFOR’s contribution to the safe and secure environment in BIH. He also briefed about plans and challenges for the future.

Both parties re-established their commitment to cooperate in maintaining the safe and secure environment in BiH, highlighting the excellent work in the past and committing to continue and further develop this cooperation in the future, including participation in common exercises. COMEUFOR praised the level of professionalism of members of AFBiH and the implementation of joint activities.

The discussion also focused on the importance of advancing the issues of surplus weapons and ammunition disposal and de-mining, as well as weapons marking and registration.
