Pakistan lecture Makarevic KhanThe arrival of the high military delegation from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan is a sign of the willingness of that country to cooperate with BiH.

That is definitely a positive sign, but it should not be euphoric, the real work is yet to follow, said the Ambassador of BiH in the IR Pakistan Nedim Makarevic on the occasion of the arrival of the delegation led by General Rizwan Akhtar, president of the University of National Defense in Islamabad and a former head of the intelligence service of Pakistan.

General Akhtar led the delegation that will visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Ministry of Defense, as well as ammunition factory Igman from Konjic.

“This is one of the delegations that, besides protocol assignments, is also intended to determine what BiH can do to and to write recommendations for further cooperation between the two countries,” noted Makarevic.

Visit of the General Akhtar is important and, besides recommendations, protocol meetings with high officials of BiH will be organized as well. After a positive assessment of the visit, BiH should be visited by the minister of war production of IR Pakistan Rana Hussein Tanvir, a great friend of BiH and the guest of honor at the celebration of Independence Day of BiH in Pakistan in 2015 and 2017. This delegation will do an extensive analysis of the military industry of BiH and they will examine all of our potentials in this sector.

Ambassador of BiH to Pakistan stated that military industry does not only represent a generator of development through exports, but it is also crucial for the defense of a state and its vitality.

“Therefore, I do not see military industry only through profits, although that part, of course, should not be ignored as well. BiH has great potential, there are people here who are real patriots and professionals, who have worked in the facilities of the former state for years, who possess extremely important information and want to help. In the case of Pakistan, the cooperation has already started, certain items such as sniper ammunition 12.7 millimeters are already exported, but I believe that it could and should be much greater,” said Ambassador Makarevic.

On the other hand, Makarevic stated that Pakistan is a nuclear power whose army, together with their reserve forces, is counting almost one million soldiers and that they address their defense through cooperation with the largest states such as People’s Republic of China and the United States.

“If we consider all of that, it represents a success that we’ve managed to draw their attention at all,” said Makarevic.
