Chargé d’affaires of the Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union, Valentina Marinčić, met on January 25 in Brussels with the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, during the New Year’s reception for heads of missions accredited to the EU, which President of the EC organized after a three-year break.

On that occasion, Marinčić thanked for the support of the president and the European Commission in granting BiH candidate status.

She informed the President of the European Commission that the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH confirmed the appointment of a new convocation of the Council of Ministers of BiH earlier on the same day, and expressed full confidence that the new authorities of BiH will quickly and firmly embark on the path of reform.

President von der Leyen said that the European Commission remains with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

She recalled the unity and strength that the European Union showed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and then in the circumstances of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

She emphasized that with their deep unity, the EU member states managed to overcome significant energy dependence on Russia, and at the same time provide assistance to the Ukrainian people in the defense of their country, stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
