Deputy US Ambassador to Afghanistan Denis Hirn will be the new first deputy of the high representative in BiH and supervisor for Brcko.

Current first deputy of Valentin Inzko, the US diplomat Bruce Berton, will take over the duty of the Head of the OSCE Mission in BiH from Jonathan Moore.

Hirn should arrive in BiH at the end of October or early November this year. Hirn already served in BiH in the period between 1993-1996 as a political advisor to the first US ambassador Viktor Jakovich, he was serving in Croatia, speaks local languages, and was engaged in the Hague Tribunal from 1996 to 1998.

He had contact with our region while he was serving as an officer of the Bureau of European Affairs at the State Department.

“He is a very strong candidate who was the associate of Tomas Shannon, Deputy Secretary for Political Affairs at the State Department. This confirms that the US administration in BiH wants to send an influential diplomat,” said a source close to American diplomacy.
