359670_173735_Europe_Day_1A gala Europe Day reception will be held in Sarajevo on 9 May Thursday evening from 19:30-20:00 at Dom Armije.

Europe Day is observed throughout the European Union on 9 May, the anniversary of the 1950 Schuman Declaration that set out the basic principles on which the EU has been built. It is an occasion to celebrate the EU’s achievements – including lasting peace, economic cooperation and border-free travel.

Thursday evening’s reception will include the screening of a short vox populi among BiH citizens on the European Union accession and the presentation of an award to a young artist who will be named earlier in the day as the winner of the BiH-wide “EU in Art” competition.

On this occasion, Ambassador Peter Sørensen, Head of the EU Delegation to BiH and EU Special Representative and Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Vjekoslav Bevanda will address the audience. Ambassador Sørensen will also present the “EU in Art” award.
