Martin Luther King Day radiosarajevo.baMartin Luther King Day, the day honoring the fighter for human rights and Nobel Peace Prize winner, was marked yesterday in Tuzla by laying of flowers and paying tribute in front of the statue of Martin Luther King.

Ceremony in Tuzla was attended by the Ambassador of the United States of America to Bosnia and Herzegovina Maureen Cormack, who reminded that, as the leader of human rights movement, Martin Luther King pointed to the importance of voluntary work for local community.

Ambassador Cormack assessed that messages of Martin Luther King are indeed noticeable in Tuzla, and highlighted that Tuzla is one of the most multiethnic cities.

The Mayor of Tuzla Jasmin Imamović took advantage of this opportunity to thank the Embassy of the USA for the statue of King and all contribution to B&H through numerous projects.

“Messages of the Ambassador Cormack that we have to oppose to corruption and that those who are dealing with politics should be leaders in the fight against corruption are clear. Let people be defined by activism, by what they did for other people,” Imamovič stated.

Speeches of Martin Luther King are necessary even nowadays, Imamović highlighted, expressing satisfaction because the statue of Martin Luther King became a part of cultural-historical heritage of Tuzla.
