Mayor of Sarajevo: Our Freedom did not come by itself, we fought for it

The Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, this morning laid flowers at the Eternal Flame Memorial on the occasion of the Day of the City and congratulated all the citizens of Sarajevo, Bosnians and Herzegovinans, as well as everyone who loves Sarajevo.

Karić said that today we remember all those who gave their lives so that we could be free today and celebrate the day of anti-fascist, multicultural and historical Sarajevo.

“We are dedicating this April 6 to young people hoping that they choose to stay in their city, let them fight for their Sarajevo, let them be hardworking, learn and invest in education, because that is how they help this city and Bosnia and Herzegovina the most,” said Karić.

She pointed out that we need to provide the young generations with enough knowledge so that they can bravely and honorably continue the fight against fascism because it turned out that this scourge is still very much awake.

“Our freedom did not come by itself, we fought for it and we should be proud of that and jealously protect this city, work for it, serve the citizens and I hope that we will welcome the next April 6 in a much more beautiful and better Sarajevo,” emphasized Karić, Fena reports.
