Director of the State Veterinary Office of B&H, Ljubomir Kalaba, confirmed that a meeting with representatives of the EU will be held early next week in Brussels, where they will discuss the export of milk in the EU.
Kalaba will talk in Brussels with the director of the Directorate General for Health & Food Safety (DG SANTE) most probably on Monday or Tuesday.
Within its jurisdiction, this body of the EU has assembling of the list of countries from which it is permitted to import milk into the EU. Croatia lodged an appeal to this body, after which B&H was removed from the approved list.
Dušan Nešković, the Assistant minister at Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations and head of the Department of Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Rural Development of this ministry, will be in delegation of B&H as well.
Kalaba states that B&H authorities still didn’t get explanation why Croatia lodged the appeal and what exactly is considered as disputable. He added that he will contact different institutions in the EU by telephone, and hopes that they will know more details soon.
