Members of the Border Police Unit of Gorica prevented yesterday the smuggling of three citizens of the Republic of Turkey and a citizen of Iraq in the area of the municipality of Posušje, in the village of Mitri.

Smuggling was discovered during the control of the taxi vehicle with BiH license plates, the Border Police of BiH (GPBiH) announced.

Due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that the criminal offense of “people smuggling” was committed, the prosecutor on duty at the BiH Prosecutor’s Office was informed about the incident. According to his order, a person initials I.Ć. was interrogated as a suspect on suspicion of committing the aforementioned criminal act.

His mobile phone was temporarily confiscated, and the report on the committed criminal offense will be submitted to the BiH Prosecutor’s Office. Smuggled persons were handed over to the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs in Ljubuški.

Members of the Border Police Unit Zvornik, with the assistance of members of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), on Friday prevented the smuggling of 18 Afghan citizens in the town of Zvornik.

While performing regular duties and tasks in the supervision of the state border at the mentioned locality, observing the critical part of the Drina River, a larger group of migrants was noticed on a boat moving from the direction of the Republic of Serbia to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With the quick intervention of police officers, the persons were brought under control.
