The members of the Presidency of BiH expressed their satisfaction with the visit of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, and noted the substantive and good bilateral relations, with the possibility of overall strengthening of ties between the two countries, which are not burdened by open issues. They emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to further strengthening bilateral ties with Montenegro in the areas of economy, infrastructure connectivity, energy and tourism, as well as cooperation through regional initiatives and international organizations.

In the part of the conversation dedicated to economic and infrastructure cooperation, special emphasis was placed on the issue of road and railway connectivity between BiH and Montenegro. In this context, the need to modernize the Podgorica-Sarajevo road was emphasized, as well as the importance of building an interstate bridge on the Tara River. It was emphasized that the economic cooperation of the two countries will also be improved by today’s holding of the BiH-Montenegro Business Forum, organized by the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH and the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, at which specific business projects will be discussed.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on the current political situation and cooperation between countries in the region, noting that regional cooperation is of particular importance and value for the two countries and the region as a whole.

The European integration process was discussed, and on this occasion, Montenegrin President Milatović congratulated the members of the Presidency of BiH on the opening of negotiations with the EU and supported BiH’s commitment to achieving full membership in the European Union.

Montenegrin President Milatović expressed his condolences and deep regret to the families of those killed in the recent floods in Jablanica, emphasizing that it is precisely in such extraordinary situations that the countries of the region show their mutual closeness and solidarity. He emphasized that good cooperation with neighbors, especially with Bosnia and Herzegovina, is extremely important for Montenegro, and emphasized that today’s visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina represents his commitment to good neighborly cooperation as a key prerequisite on the path to the country’s full membership in the European Union. He thanked the members of the Presidency of BiH for the open and constructive conversation, expressing his belief that relations between the two countries will continue to develop in the spirit of mutual respect and common progress.
