Commemoration for 6 Babies Who Died in a Fire at the Home for Children “Bjelave”

SJEÆANJE NA ŠEST BEBA KOJE SU STRADALE U POŽARU U DJEÈIJEM DOMU „BJELAVE“7 years have passed since 6 babies tragically died in a fire at the home for children “Bjelave”.

The 6 youngest children of home “Bjelave”: Medina Bostandžija, Al’dina-Dlalal Akmadžić, Amina Čustović, Džemal Šabanović, Faik Krasnići and Damir Pejanović lost their lives on 22 April 2007, while other 18 children were injured.

Delegation of Sarajevo Canton, Sarajevo City and Municipality center, employees of the Home for Children “Bjelave” paid tributes today to the youngest children who tragically lost their lives in the fire with a minute of silence, putting flowers and praying Fatiha today at the cemetery Vlakovo. 

“Memories are still fresh. What to say? There are no words of comfort, our babies died. That was a tragedy. Taught by experience, our concern for children is now greater”, said the Director of the Home for Children “Bjelave” Saudin Đurđević.

He added that currently 96 children of different ages are accommodated in the Home for Children “Bjelave”. “We live with them and we are with them 24 hours and we are determined to bring them up in a right way”.
