Today, messages of support were sent from Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people under Russian attack.

The Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Mothers’ Movement of the Srebrenica and Zepa enclaves organized a gathering of “Victims from Bosnia and Herzegovina for victims in Ukraine”.

During the protest walk from the Eternal Flame to the Memorial to the Killed Children of Surrounded Sarajevo, those gathered gave their support to the war-torn Ukraine.

In addition to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the meeting was attended by the chairman and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic and Zeljko Komsic, Bakir Izetbegovic, vice chairman of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Sarajevo Mayor Benjamina Karic.

The gathered people carried banners that read: “Stop the massacre in Mariupol”, “You did not react in Bosnia, react in Ukraine”, Federalna writes.

The president of the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide, Murat Tahirovic, said that 49 percent of Bosnia and Herzegovina supports Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

“Unfortunately, this is a problem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which, unfortunately, is not only on this issue, but on many other issues. Bosnia and Herzegovina is failing to do what the whole democratic world is doing. It is already part of politics. We are here, we who know , who have survived and lost their loved ones, we want to give support in some way to Ukrainians, especially civilians and children, who suffer the most, and are the least to blame for what is happening, “said Tahirovic.

A rally of support was organized on May 9 – Victory Day over fascism.
