The motive for the attack on the returnees in Visegrad is not religious or national intolerance, but self-interest. This was said by Siniša Karan, Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska. He says that the police are working intensively to solve the attack completely.

Returnees to Višegrad, Fadil and Ajša Memišević, were severely beaten and robbed in their own home on the first day of Ramadan, and were found on Thursday around iftar (the breaking of the fast during the Muslim holy month), tied up and with serious injuries on their bodies.

On this occasion, Mladen Đurević, the mayor of the municipality of Višegrad, spoke.

“I would like to take this opportunity to condemn the attack on the returnees Fadila and Ajša Memišević from the village of Omeragići, who were attacked and beaten by persons unknown for now,” said Đurević.

“I expect the competent authorities to shed light on this event as soon as possible! Višegrad is a city of peace and tolerance!”, Đurević said.

“The police are looking for a man who broke into a family house near Višegrad, armed and masked, beat the spouses and stole 7,000 BAM”, confirmed today from the Foča Police Department.
