Microsoft BiH donated software worth 480.000 US Dollars to the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

The donated software includes various Microsoft products, including Windows, Office, Windows Server, Exchange Server, SQL Server, Visual Studio and Lync. This would enable progress in communication between the ICMP offices in creating a global database of missing persons and the development of operative systems, including an online system about missing persons.

On the occasion of this donation, the General Director of ICMP Kathryne Bomberger expressed her gratitude, and emphasized the continued support of Microsoft to the activities and mission of ICMP.

At a press conference in Sarajevo, Bomberger spoke of the priorities of the ICMP on an efficient solution to the issues of missing person and efforts of governments throughout the world regarding this plan, including assistance to uncover the truth on missing persons during conflicts, as well as victims of human trafficking, various forms of violence and violations of human rights, illegal migration, and victims of natural and other disasters.

The Director of Microsoft BiH Lejla Zukić- Krivdić said that this, as well as the previous donation to ICMP shows that software and modern technology intended for goodwill and social responsibility and the sensitivity of large corporations could help in solving important issues for communities throughout the world, and the concrete issue of missing persons.

She recalled that Microsoft, through its global initiative “Unlimited Potential” is helping non-profit organizations in BiH for many years, and that in the last five years donated software to ICMP worth 800.000 US dollars.

ICMP is the only organization in the world that is systematically working with complex issues of missing persons and until now has helped in the identification of 17.000 missing persons in the region of the Western Balkans, of which 14.100 are from BiH.

Also, ICMP was involved in solving the fate of missing people in war, violations of human rights in natural disasters in BiH, Serbia, Craotia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Columbia, Chile, the Philippines, Thailand, Maldives, Norway, South Africa, USA and Cyprus.
