Miners of Zenica Brown Coal Mine have started a Hunger Strike

The miners of the Zenica brown coal mine have started a hunger strike. The reason is the non-payment of salaries for sixty days.

As they say, the situation in the Zenica RMU is in complete chaos, people are at their wits’ end, and work has been suspended because they do not have basic working conditions.

The miners have not received their salaries for July and August, and they say that they will not stop the strike and will not leave the premises of the Zenica Miners’ Association until they are paid at least one salary.

Currently, about 30 of them have locked themselves in the premises of the Miners’ Association.

Let us recall that in July, the miners of the Zenica RMU held a protest in front of the building of the Government of the Federation of BiH in Sarajevo.

At a meeting of representatives of the Union of Mine Workers of the Federation of BiH and the Government of the Federation of BiH, it was agreed that the May and June salaries of the employees of the Zenica RMU would be paid.

However, the miners expressed their dissatisfaction with the agreement reached because, as they point out, no permanent solution was reached.
