FBiH Minister of Transport and Communications Enver Bijedić met in Sarajevo with the Ambassador of France in BiH Roland Gilles.

Bijedić thanked the Ambassador on diplomatic efforts that France has been investing for decades in BiH in order to help it on its way to the EU. Bijedić informed the ambassador about the dynamics of construction of Corridor 5C.

” In the past two years, we’ve built more kilometres of highways than in the past 15, and we plan to continue that. The construction of highways will remain the priority of FBiH Government, which will allow easier movement of people and goods and thus promote the development of BiH. FBIH Government will, through the activities of FBiH Ministry of Transport and Communications and through the fulfilment of legal prerequisites do all that to ensure that the French investors and companies become partners in the construction of highway” ,said Bijedić.

Ambassador of France informed Bijedić about the intention of French companies to become a partner in building the Y section of Corridor 5C – section Žepče-Tuzla-Brčko-Orašje.

Minister Bijedic offered the ambassador the most acceptable model for the financing via concession, which will certainly be of interest to large companies that will include domestic companies as well, in the construction of the highway.

Ambassador Gilles said that Frenchmen and Europeans see a strategic importance of building the Corridor 5C, which will connect different economies and people. Gilles called his visit another proof that the EU is very motivated in the building of the Corridor 5C.

FBiH Ministry of Transport and Communications released a statement in which they said that the Ambassador noted that the representatives of French government and economy are very keen for economic cooperation with BiH in the months to come, as well as to intensify agreements and the possibility of the meeting of French and BiH companies in connection with the construction of Corridor 5C.
