Bosnia and Herzegovina will actively work on the return of migrants residing illegally on the territory of our country to their countries of origin and strongly support the establishment of regional cooperation and coordination in this area, said today at a ministerial conference in Vienna organized by the Joint Platform for Coordination of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Austria, attended by the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotic.

Cikotic informed the participants about the current situation in the field of migration and the measures that BiH is taking in this area, emphasizing that the return of migrants is one of the priorities of the Ministry this year.

The ministers also adopted a joint declaration defining a regional mechanism for the return of migrants and future co-operation in this area.

The aim is to establish fast and efficient procedures as well as the exchange of information with countries of origin, in order to facilitate the return of persons who do not meet the requirements for international protection.
