The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Staša Košarac, said today that in the case of Trgovska Gora, the location where Croatia plans to store radioactive waste, human rights and freedoms are being violated and that BiH, as a signatory to the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms, has the elements and rights to protect its citizens.
After the meeting in Novi Grad, Košarac said that the complete mobility of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH was requested in order to adequately protect the human rights and freedoms of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the implementation of the legal strategy adopted by the Council of Ministers.
“We will not give up on that. I appreciate that it is important to include the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees through the implementation of the legal strategy, and we will make an official agenda of our actions in 15 days to point out that the European Convention on the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms is being violated and for example Trgovske gore,” Košarac said.
He says that the efforts of the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina are visible due to the fact that Croatia hired an international legal agency.
“We are aware that the argument is on our side. We have accepted the conclusion of the Coordinating Body that BiH should also request an international legal office. We will define the structure and budget together with the governments and entities and the Council of Ministers in the future,” says Košarac.
According to him, Bosnia and Herzegovina has partners in Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia in order to try to provide support in preventing Croatia from its intention.
Košarac says that this is not enough and that the support of Austria and Germany will be requested.
“In the coming period, we will also consider the security aspect. There are obviously a lot of security challenges here, and we are obliged to protect people from Republika Srpska and BiH, which in the coming period will be the topic of authorities from the level of Republika Srpska and BiH,” said Košarac.
In addition to Kosarac, the meeting was attended by the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of BiH Sevlid Hurtić, the Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska Bojan Vipotnik, and representatives of the local communities of Novi Grad, Prijedor, Kostajnica and Kozarska Dubica.
