Dragan Lukac, Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska (RS) announced intensive work on apprehending all perpetrators of criminal acts and said that criminals can expect the police to come for them because they have received a lot of information.

”By cracking the ‘Sky’ application, we got a lot of new information. We received a lot of information from those we arrested. There will be many more arrests and we are working on that these days. Every day we bring in an increasing number of criminals that we process criminally and we get a lot of information from them that will lead to new arrests and the disclosure of crimes from previous years that have remained undetected,” Lukac told RTRS.

Cooperation with Europol

He added that the police continue to fight all forms of organized crime in cooperation with other partner agencies in the region and beyond, exchange a lot of information in cooperation with Europol and expect full cooperation with Europol, which it considers very important.

Criminal liability

Lukac reiterated that, unfortunately, there is a certain number of members in the Ministry of the Internal Affairs who provide information and cooperate with criminals, but he pointed out that such people have nothing to look for in the police.

”All those who had connections with criminals in any way will be expelled and will be held criminally liable,” the RS Minister of the Interior stated.

When it comes to greater powers of the police, Lukac explained that they have started to use some other legal regulations earlier, but that they must be changed because the practice has shown that they are not efficient and that things must be harmonized with our needs.

Furthermore, he added that teams will be formed that should decide what needs to be changed so that the police and prosecutor’s offices can do their jobs more efficiently, and he hopes that it will not last long.

Lukac stressed that in past years, a lot has been done on equipping and training members of the Ministry of the Internal Affairs, which can be seen, but it is also important that police officers are satisfied, and salaries are one of the significant segments.
