muskarac-neradni-danFour cantonal prime ministers and 43 ministers that resigned during the protests in B&H will have the right to an annual salary that they received while they were in office. This is more than 1,5 million BAM that will be paid by taxpayers if the law does not change that currently gives them this privilege.

Under pressure from disgruntled citizens who are protesting, the Prime Ministers of Tuzla Canton Sead Čaušević, Una Sana Canton Hamdija Lipovača, Sarajevo Canton Suad Zeljković and Zenica Doboj Canton Munib Husejnagić. Together with them, ministers in these cantons have also left. According to data from the nonprofit organizations Centers for Civil Initiatives (CCI), their salaries are from 2.300 BAM (ministers in ZDK government), to 3.900 BAM (salary of prime minister of Tuzla Canton), writes CIN.

According to the FB&H Law on Salaries and Allowances in government, which applies in the cantons, ‘’the elected officials and holders of executive functions, after leaving public office, and until obtaining new employment, contractual agreement or meeting the conditions for pension, have the right to earn the same salary as they had while they were in office for one year’’.

The abolition of these privileges, known as ‘white bread’, is one of the demands of these protestors in Tuzla.

Citizens in the Una-Sana Canton (USK) voiced the same demand, but the Assembly has still not considered this abolition of privileges.
