Miralem Pjanic at a Turning Point: America, Europe or returning Home?

Miralem Pjanić’s career is at a crossroads again. After a rich experience in the biggest European clubs and a recent episode in Moscow, the “little prince” of Bosnian football has received an offer that could take him far across the Atlantic.

Pjanić has decided to part ways with CSKA Moscow, where he won the Russian Cup in the 2024/25 season. Although he could have extended his contract, changes in the coaching staff and the departure of coach Marko Nikolić were decisive factors in his decision to seek a new environment.

The most attention was drawn to the information that Pjanić is in negotiations with the American MLS club St. Louis City SC. There, a huge Bosnian diaspora, numbering more than 50,000 people, awaits him. For many fans, this would be an emotional match – a top player in a city with strong ties to his homeland.

However, Pjanić does not rule out a return to Europe. He considers Italy his second home, and the local media is already speculating about possible links with clubs like Milan, and even a return to one of his former teams. Italian fans remember him as a player of class and character, and Pjanić himself emphasizes that his career “is not over”.

Metz, Lyon, Roma, Juventus, Barcelona, Beşiktaş, Sharjah and CSKA; the list of clubs speaks for itself. In addition, he has made 115 appearances for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team and scored 17 goals, leaving an indelible mark before saying goodbye to the national jersey in 2024. He has long secured his future financially, but his sporting ambition continues to push him forward.

Will his journey take him to America, where a community that would accept him as a hero awaits him? Or will he still listen to his heart and stay in Europe, closer to his family and old glory? One thing is for sure, Miralem Pjanić has not yet said his last word on the field.
