The longtime football representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina and member of Sharjah from the United Arab Emirates Miralem Pjanić said goodbye to the national jersey after 16 years, reports Anadolu news agency.

“After 16 years for my Bosnia and Herzegovina, the moment has come to say it’s over. This is certainly one of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make, but with great pride and true satisfaction I say – it’s enough,” Pjanić wrote in a post on Instagram.

“I played 115 games, experienced so much joy, going to the World Cup – it was all a dream that I had as a small child and that became a reality. I always wore the jersey of my country with love and pride, played for my people, for our loyal fans all over the world. Thank you to all the selectors, medical staff and economics who supported us in this journey”, said Pjanić, and added:

“Thank you to BH fanaticos for believing in me and helping me realize my dream and play for the country I love. The biggest thanks goes to my parents and my whole family – you were my strength and support through everything. In every club I played in I was I am a proud Bosnian, always striving to be a role model for our children, hoping that one day they will join the world’s biggest clubs. I wish the national team all the best in the future you are a role model for me. You have led us to great heights, I hope you will lead us again on the road to success. I love you my Bosnia”, concluded Pjanić.

Pjanić started his career in Metz, then played for Olympique Lyon, Roma, Juventus, Barcelona, Besiktas, and two years ago he wore the shirt of Shaarjah. After appearing for the U17 and U19 selections of Luxembourg, he made his debut for the Dragons in 2008.
