The UN refugee agency said on Friday that participants at a major forum to find solutions to a global refugee crisis had pledged more than $2.2 billion to help refugees and their host countries.

“Participants have demonstrated leadership, vision and creativity in the search for solutions to very complex problems,” said UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi in a statement.

“They have, above all, made a commitment to continue working together to improve the lives of millions of refugees around the world.”

The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has reached 18,800, local authorities said.

In a statement from the Gaza-based government media office, 51,000 Palestinians have been wounded in Israeli attacks so far.

It was also stated that 8,000 children and 6,200 women were among those killed.

They note that the Israeli army has caused an “unprecedented humanitarian disaster” and massive destruction in the Gaza Strip.

Israel resumed its military offensive on the Gaza Strip on December 1 following the end of a week-long humanitarian truce with Hamas.

About 1,200 people were killed in Israel.
