The Sarajevo Canton Government continues to make serious investments in strengthening the capacities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Canton, and one of the most important projects is the procurement of helicopters.

According to data from the Canton Government, funds for the procurement of helicopters in the amount of 12,045,450 BAM, which remained unspent in the 2024 Budget, have been transferred to the current budget year. With an additional 24,798,680 BAM planned in the 2025 Budget, a total of 36,844,130 BAM has been provided for this purpose. Given that payment is made only upon delivery of the helicopter, the funds have temporarily remained unused but will be fully used in accordance with the dynamics of contract implementation.

The Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton, Nihad Uk, emphasized that this project is not only investing in the technical equipment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but also in long-term security and a more efficient response to crisis situations.

“The procurement of the helicopter represents an important step forward for the Sarajevo Canton, not only in the field of security, but also in the field of civil protection, fire protection, and medical and rescue evacuation. This investment is part of a broader strategy to strengthen institutions that are the first responders in emergency situations,” said Uk.

The Cantonal Government has worked intensively over the past two years to improve the working conditions of police officers, including new vehicles, equipment, staff training and infrastructure investments, and the helicopter unit project is one of the key elements of the modernization of the Cantonal Ministry of Interior, the Cantonal Protocol and Press Service announced.
