The Franciscan Museum and Gallery Gorica Livno was visited by more than 4,000 people from the beginning of 2026 until the beginning of August, and in the first part of the year there was an increase in the number of visitors compared to last year.
As Fena was told by the Franciscan Museum and Gallery Gorica – Livno, a total of 4,015 visitors have been recorded so far, including 1,547 adults and 2,468 children. This number also includes visitors to exhibitions and other events organized by the Museum throughout the year.
Throughout last year, the Museum was visited by approximately 6,800 people, while this year’s data shows an increase in attendance already in the first part of the year.
A particularly important part of the attendance is made up of school groups. Visiting the Franciscan Museum has become part of the program of Livno schools, so students, including regular fourth-grade generations, come in an organized manner to get to know the museum’s exhibits and the cultural heritage of their region.
During the spring months, numerous school groups from other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina also come to the Museum in an organized manner, along with hikers, pilgrims and other organized visitors. This year, for the first time, larger organized visits from schools from Sarajevo were recorded – a total of eight visits with more than 200 students.

During the summer months, however, individual visits predominate.
The Museum points out that they have also recorded an increasing number of foreigners among visitors, including tourists from Japan, Italy, England, France and other countries. They state that they are particularly surprised by the richness and diversity of the museum collections, as well as the history they preserve, because they did not expect that a city the size of Livno would have a cultural institution with such a valuable and extensive holdings.
Special exhibitions also significantly affect the number of visitors. Thus, in 2024, an exceptionally high number of visitors was recorded thanks to the large exhibition dedicated to Gabrijel Jurkić, for which some visitors specifically came to Livno.
The Museum emphasizes that Gabrijel Jurkić and his gallery remain among the main reasons for visitors to come.
A tour of the Franciscan Museum also includes the Church of St. Peter and Paul, the Gabrijel Jurkić Gallery and the sacral exhibition, while the new museum building houses the archaeological exhibition and the collection of weapons and military equipment. The Old School houses an ethnographic exhibition, and part of the tour is the lapidary of the archaeological collection.
The Museum also regularly organizes temporary exhibitions in order to supplement the permanent program with new content, Fena writes.
