More than 50,000 people have fled Lebanon to Syria amid the Lebanese-Israeli conflict, while more than 200,000 have had to flee their homes inside Lebanon, the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said.

“More than 50,000 Lebanese and Syrians living in Lebanon have crossed into Syria fleeing Israeli airstrikes. More than 200,000 have been displaced within Lebanon itself,” Grandi wrote on the “X” platform.

He added that humanitarian efforts, including from the UNHCR, are underway in coordination with the governments of Syria and Lebanon to help people in need.

Israel began a massive bombing campaign code-named “Northern Arrows” in the southern and eastern parts of Lebanon.

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said more than 1,500 people had died so far. Hezbollah responded by firing dozens of rockets into northern Israel.
