The Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska, Radovan Viskovic, stated today in Banja Luka that the Government of the RS has made a decision to build a facility for providing health care to patients with malignant diseases at the University Clinical Center (UCC) of the Republika Srpska, for which more than 55 million BAM will be allocated.

“Hospital capacities for seriously ill patients are insufficient and that is why we decided to build such a facility. The deadline for the construction of the facility is three years,” Viskovic told reporters after the official start of construction of this facility.

He pointed out that the Government of the Republika Srpska supports the health system and that the goal is to build hospitals in Trebinje and Prijedor.

“I am proud that Republika Srpska can financially and in any other way monitor the needs of citizens and adequately respond to all challenges. Earlier, we built hospitals in Bijeljina and East Sarajevo, expanded capacities in Trebinje, and the Government monitors the balanced development of RS and the needs of citizens,” stated Viskovic.

According to him, the facility for providing health care to patients with malignant diseases will be intended for patients from Republika Srpska.

“Patients will have complete care here. We will procure the most modern diagnostic equipment, and the UCC is already working on training staff, which is very important,” said Viskovic.

He reminded that the Government of the Republic of Srpska set aside money for the reconstruction of the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics of the UCC.

“In the past period, we only made great efforts and stopped the growth of liabilities of the health sector. We significantly increased personal income, built facilities and procured modern equipment. We made a big step forward in the health sector of Srpska, which showed that it is able to deal with crisis situations. was a corona virus. Our system did not crash, but showed how successful it is, “Viskovic said.

He thanked the health workers for their dedicated work and professionalism.

The construction of a facility for providing health care to patients with malignant diseases, which will have 370 beds, started today at the UCC of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka.

The goal of this project is to form a regional center for the treatment of malignant diseases in the UCC, which will serve as a center for accommodation of patients on longer treatment, as well as a diagnostic center with adequate capacities for daily treatment of patients.

The facility will have 370 beds for longer accommodation, namely – Oncology 190 beds, Hematology and Palliative Care for 90 beds to accommodate those patients who are in the terminal phase of the disease. The facility also has 50 beds for daily accommodation of patients.

The deadline for construction of the facility is March 2025.
