In Bosnia and Herzegovina, directors earn an average of 4,570 marks per month, almost 6.5 times more than cleaners, who are also the least paid, and more than half of employees are dissatisfied with their income in relation to their work tasks.
According to the Plata.ba service, the best-paid position in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the general manager, whose average monthly salary is 4,570 marks, followed by country manager (4,244 BAM), IT architect (3,559 BAM), leasing director (3,549 BAM), IT director (3,536 BAM), sales director (3,462 BAM), lead developer (3,424 BAM), director of the banking sector (3,231 BAM), executive director (3,062 BAM), marketing director (3,053 BAM), financial manager (3 025 BAM).
Along with managers and employees in the IT sector, among the top twenty highest paid are also lawyers who earn an average of 2,695 marks per month.
On the other hand, cleaners earn the least, with an average monthly salary of 709 marks, followed by tailors (724 BAM), porters (733 BAM), caregivers of the elderly (736 BAM), fabric cutters (745 BAM), tailors (758 BAM), funeral workers services (785 BAM).
According to the results of an international survey conducted by Alma Career, the leading group on the market of employment services in 12 countries of Eastern and Central Europe, which also included Bosnia and Herzegovina, compared to the average, workers in Bosnia and Herzegovina more often feel underestimated by employers. As many as 55 percent of employees in our country claim that their salary is too low, taking into account work tasks, while approximately 27 percent of workers rate the current salary as adequate, that is, reasonable.
According to data from the MojPosao.ba portal and based on the exchange of information with employers, the greatest shortage of workers is in the area of northern Bosnia as well as in the area of Herzegovina.
“In addition to the deficit of specific workers in certain professions and taking into account that there is less and less economically active and able-bodied population, it is more difficult to find workers in these regions because, taking into account the geographical position, they more easily decide to go abroad to work because of the better paid jobs and working conditions,” it was said to Fena from the MojPosao.ba portal.
When it comes to the countries that are looking for our workers, the most represented countries are still Croatia, Germany, Slovenia, Serbia, UAE, Austria, Montenegro, and Kuwait.
“Compared to the previous year, Croatia, Germany and the UAE are the countries where the demand for workers from Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased this year,” added the aforementioned portal.
At the same time, women are still paid less than their male colleagues. According to data available on the Plata.ba platform (for the past year), women in BiH earn 14.8 percent less than men.
We remind you that the average monthly net salary paid per employee in Bosnia and Herzegovina in July of this year was 1,262 marks, while the trade union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for August of this year is 3,322.90 BAM.
