More than Two Hundred Thousand Tourists visited BiH

In August 2019 tourists realized 205,238 tourist arrivals in Bosnia and Hercegovina which represent the increase by 6.3% as compared to July 2019 and increase by 10.6% as compared to August 2018. Tourists realized 454,730 tourist nights which represent the increase by 7.5% as compared to July 2019 and increase by 5.3% as compared to August 2018. Domestic tourists’ share of a total number of overnight stays was 21.4% and foreign tourists’ share was 78.6%.

The number of domestic tourist nights increased by 4,3% as compared to July 2019 and increased by 9.0% as compared to August 2018. Foreign tourist nights increased by 8.4% as compared to July 2019 and increased by 4.3% as compared to August 2018.

Concerning the structure of foreign tourist nights in August 2019, the most of them (56.1%) were realized by tourists from: Saudi Arabia with (12.1%), UAE with (9.0%), Italy with (6.3%), Croatia with (6.0%), Poland with (5.2%), Serbia with (4.8%), Slovenia with (4,4%) Germany with (4.3%) and Turkey with (4.0%) Tourists from other countries realised 43,9% of tourist nights.

Regarding the average detention of foreign tourist stays in our country on the first place comes Iceland and Malta with an average stay by 5.4 nights, Kuwait 3.5 nights, France 3.2 nights, Ireland, Qatar and UAE by 3.1 nights and Bahrain by 2.9 nights.

Available rooms, apartments and camping sites for tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina in August 2019 amounted to 21.435, which is 3.0% increase compared to August 2018. The number of available beds was 46.585 beds, which is increase by 4.6%, compared to the same month of 2018.

In August 2019, in the activity – Hotels and similar accommodation, number of rooms and apartments available to tourists amounted to 18.353, which is an increase of 5.5% compared to August 2018., and number of available beds amounted to 38.271 which is an increase of 7.6%, compared to the same month of the previous year.

The net occupancy rate of permanent beds was 34.0%.

According to the type of accommodation facility the highest number of nights was recorded in Hotels and similar accommodation with share of 90.7%.
