Mostar Airport: Low-cost Companies to land on Ortijes?

airportMarko Djuzel, one of the leading people of Mostar Airport, said they could, if they provide 500,000 BAM of subsidies, bring one low-cost airline in Herzegovina.

Thus would be established a number of new international air corridors from Mostar.

“There is a package of subsidies that we should get to be able to make this step. What we desire in the next year is 500,000 BAM of subsidies because it is the amount to get one of the low-cost airlines and allows to establish several air corridors, for example with Germany and Scandinavian countries,” said Djuzel.

Tuzla Airport opened air routes with the rest of Europe in the similar way. For this purpose the Government of Canton Tuzla allocated 700,000 BAM, and the project has been successful.

“We would not even need so much money as Tuzla Airport. All the projections show that we could cover the expenses needed for cooperation with one low-cost airline with 500,000 BAM,” said Djuzel.

He added that they have reasons for optimism after the last meeting with representatives of the Government of HNC, and they hope that this story will be realized at the end.

The Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton in the last session adopted a decision based on which will be allocated funds for the Airport Mostar in the next year. They did not specify the amount.
