Mostar: The Ninth International Conference on Unity and Plurality in Europe to be Held

bristolInternational Forum Bosnia, in cooperation with and with support from a number of organizations from Bosnia and abroad, will be hosting the Ninth International Conference on Unity and Plurality in Europe, on the theme of Economic Recovery, Social Reconstruction, and Environmental Stewardship. The conference will be held in Mostar from the 3rd to the 5th of August, 2014 in the hotel Bristol.

The program for the international conference will cover three thematic areas: (1)    Religion, Identity and Society; (2)  Political, Social and Economic Reconstruction and Environmental Stewardship in Bosnia; and (3)   Europe’s Internal and External Others.

Each panel will involve a number of individual presentations on appropriate themes, followed by general discussion.

There will be two inaugural lectures on the theme of the conference.

A section of the programme will be open to the general public, with three public discussions on related themes: a Bosnian Perspective on the Philosophy of Religion: On the occasion of the English publication of Rusmir Mahmutćehajić’s book The Praised and the Virgin 1-3; Nationalism and the Future of the Balkan Countries: On the occasion of the English publication of Edina Bećirević’s book Genocide on the Drina River and a public presentation of the School of Knowledge project.

There will also be an exhibition of works by members of the IFB HIDR gallery on the theme of Bosnian towns.

The conference will be in English. Only public lectures will be translated.
